Jay Feuerstein has a knack for systematic trading. Throughout his career, he has worked to optimize trading efficiency through the establishment of systematic trading and risk management models. Jay is an analytical professional who has extensive portfolio management experience.
His career in alternative investment began in 2001 as the Founder of 2100 Xenon Capital Management. This interview from 2011 with Jay from 2100 Xenon Capital Management shows his command of the industry and finer points of managed futures. At 2100 Xenon Jay was the CEO and CIO leading the creation and implementation of quantitative trading and risk management strategies. Jay sold 2100 Xenon in 2007 and bought the business in back 2012 from Old Mutual. In 2014 2100 Xenon was purchased by Manning and Napier. After selling, Jay remained a member of the Senior Research group overseeing $54 billion in assets of which $1 billion was Managed Futures. Most recently he was a consultant on the application of AI at 60 Degrees in Chicago.
He has been a columnist for Modern Trader Magazine, named in the Futures Magazine’s Top Traders in 2009, and was a Hedge Fund Magazine performance award finalist five times. He has also appeared on Fox Business, in the New York Times, Futures Magazine, in Bloomberg News, Business Insider, and ABC News. Some of his work has been published in the Journal of Trading, Journal of Futures Markets, Business Insider, Futures magazine, and Modern Trader magazine.
When Jay finds free time, he enjoys being very active. In 2012 he competed in the Hawaii 70.3 Ironman Triathlon and in 2016 he participated in the Triple Bypass Cycling event in Vail, Colorado. This is a one-day event that covers 120 miles and 11,000 feet of climbing at elevation!
He also uses his cycling passion to be a leading fundraiser for the Courage Classic. This is a two-day 160-mile challenge in the Colorado Rockies near Vail that benefits the Aurora Children’s hospital, one of the leading hospitals in the treatment of cancer in children.
