It goes without saying that there is volatility in futures trading.  Last month we drew your attention to some recent volatility in natural gas. Take a look at the chart below to see a textbook example from the same market.

Futures and options offer the luxury of flexibility.  You can be long just as easily as you can be short.  It is important to remember that flexibility does NOT necessarily increase your probability of profit.  It may, however, increase your risk and profit potential.
